January 20th, 2021 will be remembered for millions of Americans for specific reasons

America is 20 days in from embracing what 2021 will bring to millions of people worldwide, however today marks a new era in the history books. January 20th, 2021 will be remembered as a new era in American history as we are inaugurate not only a multi-colored VP into the White House, but we as Americans and people who have fought for this country for millions of years have inaugurated Joseph R Biden as our new President of the United States. Throughout American history, America never has had a multi-colored Vice President in the Oval Office until today and this marks a new era in American history. Today marks a new era in the history books for young colored girls/boys that have grown up in multi-racial environments to never give up on your dreams and to never stop fighting for your possible professions when you were a young child.

January 6th, 2021 definitely was the darkest day in American history when clusters of right wing supporters decided to storm the United States Capitol. Members of the House of Representatives were scared among belief and were unsure whether they would be capable of surviving the swarm of right wing supporters invading their line of work. As I was watching this horrific day to proceed, I was praying for the safety of the House of Representative, Senate Chamber and everyone in the Capitol as right wing supporters thought it was their lawfully right to swarm their environment to overturn the election. A president doesn’t have the authority to enact an insurrection against the United States Capitol to show their toughness and overturn a presidential election. I am just happy beyond belief that the right wing supporters who thought getting themselves caught on picture to be arrested was alright.

This historical Inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be remembered in the history books as the most historical day in American history. We have elected a president and a VP that has empathy, a sense of compassion and what it means to lose loved ones to tragic events that have occurred in their lives. I mourn for the 400k people that have lost their lives to this deadly COVID-19 virus and those people could have had a dramatic effect in this presidential election. I myself have lost loved ones due to this deadly virus that I have extremely enjoyed over the years and I didn’t have the chance to say my final goodbyes before they passed away. I know times would be different moving forward and I would have to adapt to those changes in anyway shape or form, but I would cherish those times that I have embraced with my best friend’s parents over the years. As I was watching this historical Inauguration concur, there was one individual that stood out amongst the crowd in a very creative and historical way. Her name is Amanda Gorman. Gorman is a young African American poet that was offered the opportunity of a lifetime to quote a poem at the Inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala that enclasp themes from the hit show “Hamilton”, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and the upbringing of those individuals that will uplift America from the brink of darkness. I’m going to include some quotes from her poem into this poem:

“Somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken. We the successors of a country and a time where a skinny Black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one.We are striving to forge a union with purpose to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and conditions of man.” I truly believe that she will be a great poet in the future especially someone who is a young African American girl that has a deep love for her country and her future. What I thought that was very touching and emotional was how President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris both remembered the 400k people who have lost their lives to COVID before being inaugurated as President and VP of the Oval Office in the White House.

During this presidential election, I was very worried about the effects for Joe Biden since it was such a close ended election. The aspect and indulgence of politics has made me to participate in this election and to fight for what I truly believe in as a young ABC in America. I have been fully supportive for the Black Lives Matter movement that has been occurring throughout the U.S. and I have mourned for the African Americans who have lost their lives due to police brutality and racial inequality. November 3rd, 2020 was the roughest day for me because I had such a deep love for President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris in terms of how they want to uplift America and always put people first instead of being narcissistic.

To conclude, I wish Godspeed to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and bright days are upon us for America and this great nation.
